PIETRAMARINA
The sandstone rock of Mount Pietramarina is among the most ancient terrains of the area of Castiglione di Sicilia. Today, after centuries of transformation of the terrain by the lava flows, this land is host to three hectares of vineyards planted with espalier-grown Nerello Mascalese, Nerello Cappuccio and Carricante at an altitude of about 600 m a.s.l. The deep sandstone subsoil stimulates vine roots, resulting in characteristic aromas that differ from the other contrade of Alta Mora.

Ancient peaks
Lava flows have remodelled the entire land surface over thousands of years, leaving the peak of Pietramarina as the only remaining part of the original mountain.
